
Stop Waiting on Your Oven to Catch Up
Nothing kills a production run like a slow oven. You know the feeling—you’ve got the conveyor moving, but your heating system just can’t keep up. You end up with those frustrating gaps between batches or, even worse, product that comes out undercooked in the middle because the heat didn’t recover fast enough. That’s where circular quartz tubes come in. Think of them as a “turbo boost” for your oven.
Why this actually works
Most ovens rely on heating the air, which takes forever. It’s like trying to warm up a room with a space heater—it’s slow and uneven. Quartz is different. We use high-purity glass because it lets short-wave infrared radiation fly right through. Instead of waiting for the air to get hot, the heat hits your dough**instantly**. By placing these right where the product enters the chamber, you kill that lag time. You can finally crank up the belt speed without worrying about raw centers. It’s fast. Really fast. Getting it right on the shop floor
When you’re picking these out, look at the wattage-to-length ratio. You want a high-density tube that packs a lot of punch into a small space. These things wake up in seconds. But a word of advice: use a fast PID controller. If you don’t, you’ll overshoot your target temp. Also, don’t just run them at 100% all day. If you do, the filaments will thin out and the glass will cloud over. Cycle them. Give them a break. Your equipment will last way longer.
The “Gotchas” (What to watch out for)
These are pretty easy to drop into your existing setup or wire into an auxiliary circuit so they only kick in during peak loads. But quartz has a weakness: it’s brittle. If your conveyor vibrates a lot, that’s a problem. Make sure your mounting brackets are secure and aren’t squeezing the glass. One bad vibration or too much pressure, and you’ve got a crack. And please,keep them clean. If you’re working with flour dust or grease, that gunk builds up on the tube. Once that happens, the IR radiation gets blocked, the glass overheats, and—snap—there goes your tube. Keep a rag handy and keep them clear.
