
Why standard heaters fail in changing rooms (and how we fixed it)
Ever tried to warm up a drafty changing room with a regular heater? It’s a losing battle. Those things try to heat the air, but in an open space, that warmth just drifts away the second a door opens. You’re left standing there shivering, waiting for a room to get warm that never actually does. We stopped fighting the air and started focusing on the person. By using short-wave infrared, we skip the middleman. Instead of heating the room, the heat goes straight to your skin and the surfaces around you. It’s instant. The magic behind the heat
It sounds fancy, but it’s pretty simple. We use quartz elements that send out waves of energy. When those waves hit you, they make the molecules in your skin vibrate, which creates heat. Because this happens at the speed of light, there’s no lag. We’ve dialed the output high enough that it feels like a luxury experience. Built for the splash zone
Changing areas are wet. Period. If you put a standard heater in there, it’s going to corrode or short out. To stop that from happening, we wrapped everything in IP-rated enclosures and tight gaskets. The heating elements live inside tempered glass or quartz tubes—stuff that can handle humidity and the occasional splash without breaking a sweat. We also used specific corrosion-resistant alloys for the reflectors. This ensures the heat actually bounces down toward the user, rather than just heating up your ceiling.
A heads-up on the electrical side
Here is the catch: you can’t just plug these into any old outlet. These infrared arrays pull a lot of power. If you try to run them on a weak circuit, you’re going to trip your breakers the moment they hit full blast. It’s a pain, but it’s avoidable. If you’re installing a few of these, do yourself a favor and run dedicated circuits. It prevents voltage drops and keeps the heaters running at peak efficiency. They might look like a simple drop-in replacement for those old convection panels, but they’ve got a much bigger appetite for power.
