Most towel rail heaters are basically disposable. They’re built as sealed units, which means the second a heating element burns out, the whole thing becomes a giant piece of scrap metal. It’s a waste of money and a pain in the neck. We wanted to fix that. So, we built our infrared modules with a simple goal: make them easy to fix.
The “Slide-In” Secret
Instead of welding the heating tube directly into the frame—which is how most people do it—we used a slide-in bracket system with quick-connect terminals. Think of it like a battery in a remote. If a tube gives up the ghost after five years of heavy use, you don’t have to rip out the wall or rewire your entire bathroom. You just pull out the dead module and slide in a fresh one. It’s fast. Really fast. A technician can swap a burnt-out element in under ten minutes without even needing a soldering iron.
Dealing with the Heat
Infrared tubes take a beating. They go through “thermal cycling”—that constant expanding and contracting every time you turn them on and off. Eventually, that stress wears down the filament. By housing the element in its own modular shell, we keep that mechanical stress away from the main frame. It keeps everything stable. Now, usually, modular connectors can cause a bit of resistance compared to a permanent solder joint. But we handled that by using high-conductivity copper alloys in the terminals. You get the heat you need without any annoying voltage drops.
No Factory Trips Required
We designed these for the real world. You shouldn’t need to send a rail back to a factory just to get it working again. When one goes out, it’s a four-step process:
- Flip the power off.
- Pop the locking clip.
- Slide out the old tube.
- Slide in the new one. It turns a disposable appliance into a piece of hardware that actually lasts. For homeowners and facility managers, that just means less money spent on replacements and way less stress when things break.
