
Stop Fighting Your SIPA Rotary Heaters
Nothing kills a production run faster than inconsistent bottle walls. You know the drill: some bottles come out perfect, others are thin in the wrong spots, and a few just fail completely. If you’re running a SIPA rotary machine, you’ve probably dealt with “power drift.” It’s a nightmare. You swap out a few bulbs, but the new ones aren’t a perfect match for the originals. Suddenly, some preforms are overheating while others are barely warm. It’s frustrating, and it wastes a lot of plastic. The secret is in the match. We build our IR bulbs to hit the exact power specs your machine expects. It sounds simple, but a tiny 5% difference in voltage or wattage can totally wreck your heating profile. We obsess over the small stuff—the thickness of the quartz and the tungsten filament—so that every single lamp in your oven puts out the same amount of heat. When you plug them in, they just work. No guessing, no tweaking for hours. What’s actually inside? These lamps use shortwave infrared. It’s designed to punch through the PET wall quickly. To make sure they don’t burn out during those brutal high-temp cycles, we use high-purity quartz glass. Depending on which SIPA model you’ve got, we offer R7s or SK15 connectors. They’re true drop-in replacements. But the real trick is the coating. We put a reflective layer on the back of the tube. Instead of letting heat bleed into the machine frame, it pushes everything forward right where it belongs: onto the preform. A couple of things to watch out for… High-density IR lamps pack a punch, but they’re hungry for power. If you decide to jump to higher wattage bulbs to shave some time off your cycle, just double-check your wiring and power supplies. If your electrical bus can’t handle the current, you’ll get voltage drops. That basically cancels out all the benefits of having matched bulbs. And here is a pro tip:keep your reflectors clean. It sounds obvious, but a thin layer of dust acts like a blanket. It kills your efficiency and forces your lamps to run hotter just to keep up. A quick clean can save you a lot of headaches.
